SAR Is Due by September 30 for Calendar Year Plans

Employers that file Form 5500 for employee benefit plans are generally required to provide participants with a Summary Annual Report (SAR), which highlights key information from the filing. For calendar-year plans, the SAR deadline is September 30, 2026, although employers that received a Form 5500 filing extension have until December 15, 2026, to distribute it.
